Easing of Covid Restrictions from Monday 17th May 2021
Latest update from Mrs McLaughlin
Dear Parents/ Carers,
I hope you are keeping well. You will no doubt be aware of the government announcement yesterday, confirming a further easing of Covid restrictions from Monday 17th May 2021. One significant change affecting schools is that, “Face coverings will no longer be needed in classrooms or for students in communal areas in secondary schools and colleges.” If however a pupil feels more comfortable continuing to wear a face covering, they will of course be able to do so. Pupils will be expected to wear their face coverings for the remainder of this week.
The government is also asking all pupils to continue to test themselves at home twice each week using Coronavirus lateral flow tests which are distributed in school. Pupils will, next week, receive their next test kit containing seven tests which will take them up to the week commencing 14th June. If your child has not previously taken a kit but now wishes to do so, they can collect them from the school office. Please remember to log your child’s test result with the NHS and the school.
As the country moves forward, it is important that we all remain cautious and continue to keep ourselves and others safe while enjoying the easing of restrictions. Thank you for your continued support.
