‘St Bernadette’s Students Celebrate Top Grades’

Anxious faces turned to smiles of joy as students opened their GCSE results at St Bernadette Catholic Secondary School, with many students achieving large numbers of top grades.

Students, parents and staff at St Bernadette’s, are celebrating strong results across a range of GCSE subjects and for individual pupils.

With the introduction of tougher exams and a new grading systems only a small percentage of pupils will achieve the top grade 9. Catherine Kuria and Narayan Sandhu achieved 11 grade 9s between them, gaining grades 7 and 8 across all of their subjects.  Other students achieving multiple top grades are Hattie Brice, Abi Davidson, Devona Asif, Amy Carmichael and Ayub Akram.

65% of students achieved at least a new grade 4 in English and Maths and 34% achieved at least the new grade 5 in both English and Maths. One in three students achieved at least one grade 7 or higher amongst their results.

“These results are testimony to the hard work and high expectations of students and staff.” said Headteacher Basia McLaughlin, “We are very proud of the achievements of our students and are delighted to be celebrating their success with them. St Bernadette’s is an ambitious and supportive school and we work hard to ensure every young person realises their potential.”
