Principles Underpinning the New Reporting System
Our approach is informed by the following principles:
-
High Expectations for Progress: Every student has ambitious targets based on their prior attainment and guided by research from the Fisher Family Trust. These targets aim to place students among the top 20% nationally.
-
A Scholarship Framework: Our curriculum emphasises building the attributes of a successful learner, including literacy, ambition, and self-reflection. These are integral to both current academic achievement and lifelong learning.
-
Clarity and Feedback: Regular feedback ensures that students and parents clearly understand both current achievements and areas for development.
What the New Reports Will Include
You will receive a detailed report three times per year, summarising the following:
-
Attendance and Behavior Overview: This includes an attendance summary and details of positive and negative referrals.
-
Subject Expertise Progress: Reports will outline your child’s current level or grade, their target, and progress towards these goals. This assessment will reflect evidence from tests, assessments, and classwork, using a “best fit” approach. At KS3, St Bernadette Levels will be used, and at KS4, the 1-9 GCSE grades.
-
Scholarship Attributes: Each of the six scholarship attributes will be graded using a Red, Amber, or Green (RAG) system to highlight strengths and areas for improvement. This RAG rating is based on detailed descriptors which can be found at the bottom of this page.
-
Written Commentary: Once annually, you will receive written summaries from your child’s form tutor and a senior member of staff, providing a holistic overview of their progress and development.
