Pathways

During Term 4, Year 9 students will choose the subjects they would like to study for their GCSEs in Years 10 and 11. This process is called Pathways.

This section of our website is designed to help students and parents understand:

• which subjects are compulsory (such as English, Mathematics, Sciences and Religious Studies), and

• the range of option subjects that students can choose from.

When choosing options, it is important that each student has a balanced curriculum. Future plans can change, so keeping a broad range of subjects helps to keep future education and career choices open. At the same time, Years 10 and 11 are a good opportunity for students to begin to focus on subjects they enjoy, are good at, or may want to study further in the future.

Over the next few weeks, students should take time to:

• think about their interests and strengths,

• discuss choices with parents/carers, and

• ask questions if they are unsure.

• Wednesday 4th March 2026- Pathways Student Assembly
• Thursday 5th March 2026- Year 9 Subject Parents Evening and Pathways Information Evening
• Friday 6th March 2026- Pathways Form Opens
• Tuesday 17th March 2026- Pathways Form Closes
