Curriculum Overview
The Vocational Award in Hospitality and Catering has been designed to support pupils in schools who want to learn about this vocational sector and the potential it can offer them for their careers or further study.
This study provides learners with the opportunity to develop a range of specialist and general skills that would support their progression to employment.
How will I be assessed?
The process of assessment and progress will follow all the exam boards mandatory marking requirements, for both exams and coursework elements. To support the pupils, low stakes testing will occur throughout Unit 1 (The Hospitality and Catering Industry), to help prepare them for the final exam. Assessment is also incorporated into lessons through the use of high quality questioning and recollection tasks, as guided by Rosenshine principles.
Formal assessment in this qualification takes place with a practical exam, written exam and controlled assessment.
