At St Bernadette Catholic Secondary School, we take the well being and safety of our students extremely seriously. We were delighted to be awarded the South West Grid for Learning 360o Safe E-Safety Mark in June 2015 which recognises the work we do to help keep our students safe when they are online.

Recently, pupils from St Bernadette's took part in some filming about Online Safety in partnership with Unique Voice, a local charity, and the Bristol Safeguarding Children's Board. These films are available on YouTube and can be found by clicking here and here. You can also watch them below:

At the bottom of the page, you will find some checklists for the most common social media sites that our pupils use. Please feel free to download one and take a look. Share them with your children and try to ensure that they are following this excellent advice.

For further information about the best ways to keep children safe online, we can highly recommend looking at these websites:

  1. The UK Safer Internet Centre
  2. Think You Know
  3. South West Grid for Learning
  4. Childnet

If you would like to report an incident to the school, you can do so by contacting your child's tutor or head of year in the usual ways, or by emailing our dedicated address: and someone will get back to you.

The CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre) YouTube channel has some excellent videos about their latest campaigns and how to report items to sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Click here to access this channel.

Below is a feed from a website called ParentInfo. They release articles and advice for parents. Clicking on a story will open up the page to read it in further detail.

A letter which was sent to all Year 7 parents in January 2016 about how to ensure only appropriate content is available at home and on mobile devices is available to download at the bottom of the page.
